Melissa Alward
As a coach, Melissa strives to teach and coach players the importance of fundamentals and technical training that were important to her development and growth as a player. She encourages all players to achieve their maximum performance regardless of age or ability. During every practice session, Coach Melissa reinforces the value of team building with a focus on better communications, confidence building, skills improvement, and enjoyment of the game of volleyball.
Melissa played for the 1998 Florida State University ACC Championship Team.

Gabe Boulware
As a dedicated volleyball coach at Erwin Middle School in Salisbury, Coach Gabe brings a wealth of experience and passion to the court. He played volleyball while serving 22 years in the military, honing his skills and fostering a love for the game. Off the court, Gabe is a devoted Christian, husband, and father, committed to helping young girls grow in both faith and volleyball skills. His unwavering dedication and focus on developing not only athletic abilities but also strong character and values make him an exceptional coach and mentor to his players.

Aaliyah Thomas
Coach Aaliyah is a passionate and dedicated coach with a strong commitment to mentoring young athletes. She graduated from Pfeiffer University in 2019 and attended Waccamaw High School in South Carolina. During her time as a student-athlete, she served as team captain and led her team to regional championships. Her outstanding performance earned her SC All-Region Awards and the Coaches Award.
Coach Aaliyah is enthusiastic and dedicated to helping her athletes reach their full potential.

McKenzie McCarthy
Coach McKenzie has been involved in volleyball since middle school, playing for both school and travel teams and continuing at the intramural level in college. With over six years of coaching experience, she brings energy, knowledge, and a heart for mentorship to the court. McKenzie is passionate about FCA Ultra’s mission, finding joy in sharing the message of the Kingdom through the sport she loves. She is also fluent in Spanish, allowing her to connect with a diverse range of athletes and families.

Amanda Mouchet
Coach Amanda brings a strong playing background to the court, having competed at the varsity level for Eastside High School in Taylors, SC, and later at Spartanburg Methodist College, where she earned recognition as a "Player to Watch" and was named to the All-Region Team.
This year marks Amanda’s first season as the head coach for Concord Academy’s varsity volleyball program and with FCA Ultra VBC—fulfilling a longtime dream to step into coaching. For Amanda, FCA Ultra is the perfect opportunity to combine her love for volleyball with her faith, using the sport as a platform to reflect Christ and invest in the next generation of athletes.

With over a decade of recreational volleyball experience, Coach Chi brings a steady passion for the game and a heart for mentorship to FCA Ultra. For the past three years, he has coached at Albemarle Middle School, helping young athletes grow in both skill and confidence.
Chi chose to return to FCA Ultra because he values the opportunity to give back to the community and share the love of God through the sport of volleyball. For him, coaching is more than just developing players—it’s about building character, faith, and connection.
